Subtle mind exercise with breathing.
This exercise is easier than the Loving Kindness exercise. It is similar to what I do when I meditate to clear my mind, although when I do meditation I concentrate on nature sounds or meditative music learning to clear your mind to your breathing is nice because then you can do it anywhere. I did find myself concentrating more on the music and had to concentrate on my breathing but when I do it without the CD and I don't have any music I can focus better on my breathing. I have found it helpful to clear my mind, especially when I am stressed, it helps me focus and at night sleep better.

Because you already practice meditation, I am sure you can relate-- I am learning how important proper breathing technique is to relaxation therapy. Until recently, I was breathing all wrong-- oxygen plays a vital role in the circulatory and respiratory systems it makes sense that we take full advantage of the proper technique and bring more oxygen to the blood and the brain. I am even finding that I am able to relax more easily.

I haven't tried to do this without the CD but I think I'll try it. I just found the time too long between being guided to do the next thing - I almost got annoyed at the ocean. I do like to try to let go of all the thoughts of the day that are clamoring for attention to reach the calmness and stillness. Not sure that I've uncovered the layer of unity consciousness yet. I have discovered some good stuff on the inside!

I totally agree that this exercise was easier than last weeks! I found it much easier to focus and complete the task at hand, where as last week I kept wondering if I was doing it right and couldn't really get into the depth of it all. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Tamara, I do agree with you that the Subtle mind exercise was much easier than the Loving-Kindness. And I also now do a lot of these breathing exercises in my yoga routines and I have really learned not to take for granted that I have a movement of breath in and out of the nostrils with each inhalation and exhalation. It is very vital that we breath well, I agree.
ReplyDeleteTamara, it seems as though we all felt the same way about the two exercises. The subtle mind was much more relaxing and worked to clear my mind and create that stillness that I need. I will probably continue to work with that one, especially when I need that little reminder to "chill out". lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. :o)
