Unit 8


The two practices that are most beneficial to me are subtle mind and meditation.  Although I have not implemented them in my daily life I do practice them several times a week. Meditation helps me relax, decrease stress and refocus.  I prefer to meditate to nature sounds sitting in a comfortable chair or on the sofa. The subtle mind practice is nice because I can use it anywhere because it focuses on breathing.  I used it the other day when I had a hectic day at work and I went to my car on lunch and took 5 minutes to do the subtle mind practice.  It helped me refocus and have an enjoyable, calmer afternoon.

  1. Hi Tamara I have to agree with regard to the breathing exercise being a anywhere anytime practice, especially in times of stress. I have a little piece of paper with a saying on my bulletin board at work. Stop, Breath, Assess the situation, Proceed with loving kindness, and thoughtfulness. It helps.

    I also agree with meditation being a weekend or after adult day events, however here is what I have decided to do. As a small replacement, on a daily basis, usually during my lunch hour, I now daydream, the same way I did as a child. It is almost like a form of meditation with visualization, but my eyes are open, my mind flows to the creative part of me, and I am relaxed. It is here in the creative mental state that I can also enjoy clear free creative and fun thoughts!!
    I really believe your path to daydreaming is filled with some wonderful and exciting new ideas. I can sense this from you. I would be interested to know if you try this method out.

    Isn't it nice to be able to just take a few minutes and refocus your day? I find that I am helped our quite frequently being able to use these tecniques. Keep it Up! Enjoy each day!

    I like to do meditation too, I feel that meditation does work right away. I also like to listen relaxation music more than meditation, becuae I don't do meditation everday. Good luck to u.
